New year, new theme and new venue – we head along to the launch event of TEDxGlasgow 2016.
Sushi, pizza and bunch of inspiring folk packed into the one room, last week marked the launch of TEDxGlasgow 2016 and our third year of being Official Creative Partners (happy TEDiversary to us!) so we headed along to the CitizenM to hear all the latest announcements on where, when and what the theme will be for this year’s event.
Right now it would be great if you closed your eyes and counted to ten for a bit of suspense before we announce the news.
Annnd ten! Are you ready? This year, TEDxGlasgow will be held on June 3rd in the Theatre Royal, which seats a grand total of around one thousand people – safe to say, this year’s event is going to be the biggest TEDxGlasgow event EVER (no pressure, right?) But wait, we’re not finished! As we shimmy our way into Scotland’s Year of Innovation, Architecture and Design, the guys at TEDx thought long and hard on choosing a theme that includes all of these elements and represents everything that TEDx stands for. So, without further ado, this year’s TEDxGlasgow theme is ‘A Disruptive World’.
Disruption’s a bit of a trendy buzzword at the moment and it basically means radical change, throwing out the old and bringing in the new. It creates massive waves in thinking, in industry and the economy, and is the new cornerstone of innovation. However, it also has another meaning; destruction and chaos (some food for thought right there). But whether positive or negative, disruption always represents an important catalyst for change and allows us to face our biggest challenges. Pretty cool, huh?
It’s hard to believe that this will be our third year as Official Creative Partners – it feels like yesterday we were learning life lessons at last year’s event and turning the cogs in our head for the next one. TEDx is an event we really identify with here at casa MadeBrave® and it’s something we really look forward to every year, from flexing our creativity on the website, the brand and event creative, to going along to the event itself. So, we’re pretty exciTED to see it grow (see what we did there?)
Call for speakers are now open, so if you know of someone who has an amazing idea that fits this year’s theme (or maybe you’ve got big cahoonas yourself?) head over to the TEDxGlasgow website to apply to be a speaker at this year’s event and get your advance tickets now.
