Hidden gems and tricks of the tweet – here are five ways to make the most of Twitter for your business.

Right, you’ve set up your business Twitter account, you’ve been chatting away to folk, maybe even thrown out a cheeky hashtag or two – you’re on a roll! Now, it’s time to take it to the next level, let’s do this! The great thing about Twitter is access to both information and people in equal measure, and with a few wee twicks (sorry, tricks), you’ll be on your way to a blue tick in no time #livingthedream.

Schedule your content, through Twitter.

Third party software is great, and there are loads of options out there, but scheduling through Twitter is even better – all of your photos show up as actual images (rather than links) and everything’s all in the one place for easy access to paid promotion (we’ll get to that next). Funnily enough, the schedule feature is actually created for Twitter ads, which is why you need to pop in your payment details at first, but don’t worry, you can choose whether it’s a paid or standard tweet, so it’s all good!  Here’s how:

First, sign into your Twitter account and head to ads.twitter.com (pop in your payment details if you need to) and then you’ll find yourself at this page. Hover your cursor over where it says ‘Creatives’ and click ‘Tweets’.

Ta-daah! You’ll find yourself right here – go on, click the ‘New Tweet’ button.

Now, all you need to do is write your tweet and choose the date and time you want it to go out (hello worry-free, round-the-clock social media content!) PS: If you have OCD like us, you can click on the ‘Scheduled’ button just to be extra, extra sure it’s all correctamundo.

Quick Promote your Tweets

We could go into depth about Twitter advertising, but that’s a whole other blog in itself (stay tuned) so in the meantime, have a look at Quick Promote – it’s a fast way to reach a wider audience and get your awesome business Twitter account noticed at the touch of a button – easy peasy!

First, select the tweet you want to promote and click on ‘View Tweet Activity’ (it’s the button that looks like a wee graph!) When you’re in, click the big, blue ‘Promote Your Tweet’ button.

You’ll come to this screen – choose your budget (if you haven’t already put your payment details in the ads section, you’ll need to do that first) and then choose the location of the people you want to reach! Simples.

Use Twitter Analytics

Are my tweets reaching anyone? What’s my most popular tweet? Say hello to Twitter Analytics, the Mystic Meg of social media (well, Twitter at least). Twitter Analytics gives you a monthly round up of your most popular content, goes into depth with exactly who your audience is (interests and everything!) and lots of other great bits and bobs. This is really useful for planning your content around what your followers will like (and eventually interact with) the most! All you have to do is head to analytics.twitter.com and have a nosey. PS: Don’t worry, we’ll do a full blog on this too!

Discover the Twitter Event Calendar

While you’re in Twitter Analytics, shimmy your cursor over to the ‘Tools’ tab, and from the drop down menu, select ‘Event Calendar’ – prepare to be amazed!

Okay, it’s pretty self explanatory, but basically, Twitter have compiled a handy calendar of events that are happening throughout the month, so you can tailor your content to tie in with the ones that suit your business. Choose your location, a date (if you’re extra organised and planning ahead) even an event type (entertainment, sport etc) and hey presto! Hurrah for instant content ideas!
