Announcing the winners of our MadeBrave photography competition with City of Glasgow College and Bridge 2 Business…

Last week, our Andrew went back to where it all began when he was a student at City of Glasgow College, to do on a talk on getting into the industry and starting a business (it even took place in one of the rooms he used as a student – cowinkydink or what?!)

As part of the talk, we thought it would be a good idea to launch a competition to win a days’ work experience here at Casa MadeBrave® and a few goodies from our MadeBrave® Originals collection (it’s at times like these we wish we had a snazzy display to show off our prizes, like when people used to win microwaves and video players on the Price is Right – but hey ho, you’ll just need to imagine it). Anyhoo, here’s the challenge we set…

Brief

Inspired by our namesake, your challenge (if you wish to accept it) is it to capture ‘Bravery’ in a photograph using either film, DSLR or even your phone.

How to enter:

So, without further ado, here are our winners…

Parkour – art, sport and bravery. For this brief I have had quite an adventure, climbing myself onto some roofs, trying to get in a good spot, above Glasgow’s skyline , but we were followed soon by security and couldn’t fulfill the plans. At least I got one photo of the place, two bruises and a hell of adventure! Simona took the brief and ran with it (and even got a few bruises along the way). Great use of colour and composition (we see what you did there).

2nd entry @madebrave the bravery to stand up for what you believe in, Be your own person #madebravecompetition #advertising #minimalism #punk #instagood #instadaily #scottishcreatives #scotland #music #photo #photographer #photooftheday #conceptual #art #like4like #followme #canon #6d #retoucher #digitalphotography #colourphotography #advertisingphotography A photo posted by Daniel White (@danielwhitephoto) on

Apart from the fact that we’re jealous of that guy’s mohawk, we like how Daniel communicates an important message without being too serious.

@madebrave My second submission is of one image from my graded unit – something I found I had to have a lot of bravery for. My graded unit consisted of kaleidoscopic images – but for someone who wasn’t very fluent with the photoshop language I found it quite hard. And after so many tutorials on YouTube and on the web in general I made it through. “Bravery” was something that I needed to complete this project and I’m glad as the 10 images for my graded unit have been selected to be put up in the new building of the college. They have also commissioned me to make a new one just for them. It’s crazy to think if I had changed my mind and done something else for the project – by not having the bravery to do photoshop – I wouldn’t have had that amazing opportunity to have my images permanently exhibited for many years to come. And my love for Photoshop would not truly exist ☺️ #madebravecompetition

Considering Kate is a newbie to Photoshop, she did a great job and we’re big fans of the kaleidoscope idea (congrats on getting your work exhibited too!)

Well done you talented lot! A big thanks to everyone for entering (choosing the winners was a toughie). Head over to Instagram to have a nosey of all the entries.
